Our propposal is far from being a material intervention, at any scale of the cambodian situation. Our propposal, is far from being a project in the paper. We are trying to study how we can make a change on the local way of thinking. Mind - Shift Cambodia, is a process that goes over the different scales: from the individuals way of thinking, to the community pathway for develop. We truely believe that arquitecture by itself, is not the solution for situations like this. The main problem we are facing here, is not only the lack of resources, but the little expectatives that locals have for their future. Microfinancing is a good way of giving them a chance to start something by themselves, but without an ambition, any help is useless. Dealing against mind issues, its even harder than material barriers. The problem is complex. How can you give someone that is struggling to survive day by day, the concept of tomorrow? The key factor for development is to make cambodians part of something big, that they can call their own. Giving them some how the securitty of today, so they can start thinking about tomorrow. Thats our main gol.
Ounce the mind-shift is done, the proccess starts from the smaller level, to the greater one. This "awakened" individuals, can create a community, that with the help of microfinancing, or some other funding system, might evolve in some company; allowing them, not only to pay back the loan, but to get a surplus, to invest in anyway they want: Upgrading their houses, investing in their own company, education, health... The possibilities are countless. With this, we jump from pickers and hunters, to enterpreneurs. The change is there, waiting for the mind bond to let loose.
